Premises Licence Transfer Service

Premises Licence Transfer Service

When purchasing or taking over a licensed premises, transferring the existing Premises Licence should be treated as a priority to protect the validity of the licence and ensure continuity of licensed activities.

Our Premises Licence Transfer Service supports clients with transferring an existing Premises Licence into the name of a new individual or company. This administrative process applies where a business or operator takes over premises that already benefit from a valid licence and allows that licence to be retained.

In most cases, a transfer relies on the existing Premises Licence Holder providing written consent. Where the current licence holder cannot be contacted, or is unwilling to consent, it may be possible to proceed using a Section 43(5) transfer, which allows the licence to be transferred without consent in certain circumstances.

If you are unsure whether a transfer is required or beneficial, we encourage you to seek advice at an early stage. In many cases, transferring an existing Premises Licence can be advantageous, even where a further application or variation is planned to support a new business model.

Our comprehensive transfer service manages the process from start to finish, providing reassurance that the application is handled correctly and efficiently by experienced Licensing Consultants.

Before any work begins, and prior to formal instruction, we carry out an initial assessment of the proposed transfer to ensure clients understand the process and the available options for their business.
