Temporary Event Notice (TEN) Application Service
Temporary Event Notice (TEN) Application Service

A Temporary Event Notice (TEN) allows certain licensable activities to take place on a temporary basis where there is no Premises Licence, or where the existing Premises Licence does not authorise the activities or hours proposed.

Temporary Event Notices are commonly referred to as TENs.

Our TEN Application Service supports clients in obtaining Temporary Event Notices to lawfully carry out the following licensable activities:

-
Sale of alcohol by retail (on-sales and/or off-sales)
-
Regulated entertainment, including live music, recorded music, exhibition of films, performance of dance or plays, boxing or wrestling, and indoor sporting events
-
Late-night refreshment, being the sale of hot food and hot drinks between 23:00 and 05:00

When a TEN Is Required

A Temporary Event Notice is typically required where:
-
No Premises Licence is in place permitting the proposed licensable activities; or
-
A Premises Licence exists, but does not cover the times, dates, or type of licensable activity intended
TENs are subject to a number of statutory limitations, including restrictions on event duration, attendance numbers, and the number of notices that can be submitted. These are considered carefully as part of our assessment process.

How We Can Help

Our TEN Application Service is designed to give clients confidence that their application is prepared and submitted professionally and accurately by experienced Licensing Consultants, giving it the best possible prospect of acceptance.
Before any work begins, and prior to formal instruction, we undertake an initial assessment of the proposed event to ensure clients fully understand the process, eligibility requirements, and any potential risks or obstacles.
A standard TEN must be submitted at least 10 clear working days before the event. In certain circumstances, a Late TEN may be submitted with a minimum of 5 clear working days’ notice, subject to statutory limits.
